WRITers salons
Free for everyone; supported by the Mola Fund.
LIVE & ONLINE
The second Thursday of most months
5 pm - 6:15 pm PT
Let’s talk about writing!
The free Splendid Mola writing salons are simply a bunch of us getting together online to talk about a particular topic relating to writing and creativity, such as how to plot or writing when the world is [gestures around]. This is not a class or workshop, but a facilitated conversation, a chance to talk with other writers. Bring your curiosity, your ideas, and your writing woes.
And! To preserve spontaneity, encourage real conversation, and promote the beauty of the ephemeral, salons will not be recorded. What you say in a Splendid Mola writing salon lives only in that moment.
Writing salons are free for all writers because they are supported by the Mola Fund, a communal pot made up of small donations from anyone who wants to assure that all writers have access to writing support and community, without money determining who gets that and who does not.

Topic: Writing Time: How do you plan it, and — more importantly, perhaps — how do you protect it?
Thursday, November 13, 2025
5 pm - 6:15 pm PT
For a lot of us, our writing time is the first thing that gets dropped with life gets loud. This salon will give us a chance to talk to each other about how we fit in our writing time and the struggles that pop up around setting boundaries to protect our writing time. I'll kick us off with my own story about the difference in writing time, for me, between when I was writing and trying to get published for 20 years vs after I got a book deal, and then open it up to discussion.

Topic: Keeping the Creative Channel Open
Thursday, December 11, 2025
5 pm - 6:15 pm PT
The end of the year tends to be a loaded time for many of us. While this salon is more generally about keeping the creative channel open — how we do it, what we do when it feels like its deserted us, rituals, routines, inspiration — it's happening in December for a reason. This is when a lot of us struggle to write. But do we have to actually be "writing" during this time, or can we use this time as a way to remain connected to our own creative energy even if we aren't regularly putting words to page? I'll kick us off this time with a short guided creative energy meditation and then open it up for conversation.
