Access more writing time, creative flow, and joy in 2018…
30-day Writers Happiness Challenge!
You’re ready for a new chapter.
More writing time, perhaps. Or maybe you want to access the optimal state of flow more quickly. Maybe you have a word count to meet or a deadline coming up.
Maybe you’re starting your new book or finishing your current one.
Maybe you’re getting back to it after some time away and need to find inspiration.
Whatever your writing world, if you’re feeling ready to feel better while writing more, this challenge is for you!
BUT WHAT DOES HAPPINESS HAVE TO DO WITH ANY OF THIS?
Like me, you might have grown up on the story of the tortured, obsessed writer, the creative genius whose despair fuels works of staggering beauty. I was so sold on this myth that I actually didn’t think I could be a writer since I wasn’t willing to live that way. It wasn’t until I went to my favorite bookstore, found two books where various writers talk about their writing process, and read them cover to cover before I was able to see how I could be happy and be a writer.
Now, all these years later, new studies are showing that the best emotional state for innovation and creativity is a state of high energy and positivity. In other words, it’s looking as though happiness fuels creativity more than any other emotion.
Happiness does lots of other happy things too. It makes us more able to see ourselves, our art, and our lives with more clarity, thus allowing us to see how and when we might fit in pockets of writing time. It reminds us what we care about most and how to make space for that. And, not least of all, it feels good.
WHAT IS THE WRITERS HAPPINESS CHALLENGE, AND HOW MUCH TIME WILL IT TAKE AWAY FROM WRITING?
The Writers Happiness Challenge will take a mere five minutes a day. You’ll get a daily email from me that has a simple happiness exercise that you can do at home or at work (no embarrassing noises involved!). And yes, five minutes a day does make a difference. Turns out it only takes two focused minutes to rewire the brain’s attention. Five minutes is positively luxury!
You can do the challenge on your own, with your writers group, or with a writing buddy. It’s free and accessible to all. In addition, there is a private Facebook group for challenge participants, because a great writing community = more happiness.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
So happy you asked! Scroll down a wee bit to send me your name and email. You’ll get an immediate reply email from me with all the details and the link to the Facebook group, and on January 8 we will begin! If you have friends who might be interested in upping their writing time, creative flow, and happiness in the new year, feel free to send them this link to take the challenge, because more happy writers = better world.
